Shift From Traditional To Digital Marketing
Updating has become an important part of our life. Whenever there is a new version we update to them, it might be a mobile/ app/ car/ lifestyle we tend to adapt according to the new trend in the market, for eg, it’s hard to see a house with cathode ray tube TV these days since the evolution of LCD/LED TVs. Whenever there is a new version of android/ios is available, very few immediately update while others wait for the comments and few other waits till updating to the new version has been made compulsory. This is the exact scenario even in the Marketing style. The traditional marketing channel is now having a parallel environment, the Digital marketing.Due to the change in the style of living the way of marketing to reach those customers has also been changed from Traditional to Digital Marketing.

What actually digital marketing is

Digital marketing is the promotion of products/service or brands via one or more forms of electronic media, channels and methods that enable an organization to analyze marketing campaigns and understand what is working and what isn’t – typically in real time. In simple terms, Digital marketing refers to advertising delivered through internet channels such as search engines, websites, social media, email, and mobile apps.

Every day is a new day, so every day there is a new update in the marketing

The newspaper ads, banners, tv ads, flyers and radio which are part of the Traditional channel has lost its frequency with the advent of digital marketing. The reality is, people spend twice as much time online as they used to 10 years ago. In India, we witnessed this transformation after the introduction of Jio, last year. After the intervention of Jio, the number of internet users has drastically increased in India. This has increased the market for digital marketing in India and also has changed the lifestyle of many people.  The way people shop and buy really has also changed; meaning offline marketing isn’t as effective as it used to be. So in order to earn customers; the business has to open out advertising in the digital world. The digital marketing is running parallel with traditional marketing. The trend in the digital marketing changes every day in order to reach the potential customers regularly.

Since the trend is changing every day in the digital marketing, digital marketers have to stay updated. Digital Marketing comes with number of tools with it – website designing, content marketing, blogs, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), , web banner ads, paid search (SEM or Search Engine Marketing), affiliate marketing, mobile marketing (SMS, MMS in-app marketing), email marketing, social media management, social media advertising etc, using these tools the marketing can be made successfully in the digital world. The digital marketing starts from customizing the website to covering a wide area, this ensures that the brand is promoted in the digital world and ensures that it reaches the potential customer.

Benefits of digital marketing over traditional marketing

With digital marketing, you’re able to see results much faster than you might with offline marketing due to the fact it’s easier to measure ROI. The digital marketing is very effective since it’s a two-way communication. Traditional marketing is just a single way communication where we can’t be sure that our advertisement reaches our target audience, whereas in Digital marketing we can track the performance and can find out whether the advertisement reached the target audience. Digital marketing is cost-effective too when compared to Traditional marketing in ratio with the results.  With digital marketing, we can ensure success when the strategy is perfect with the perfect target audience. So Digital Marketing is not just a mere marketing, to do digital marketing a marketer has to have wide knowledge on all its tools and how to use it, more than that the marketer should have strategic thinking and should be creative.
